Children Are The Key to a Thriving Community

The vision of a thriving community is the reason why more than 30 local agencies met at Jamestown Community College on Thursday. The Chautauqua Connections Children’s Coalition held its second annual meeting in the Sarita Weeks Room at JCC, which featured speakers County Executive Vince Horrigan, Christine Schuyler, county social services commissioner and public health director, and Heather Brown, The Resource Center’s assistant executive director for program operations. The coalition was formed last year to collaborate on services to improve the quality of life for children in the county under the age of 5. Agencies Team Up to Serve Children

Many organizations from Chautauqua County put a strong emphasis on making sure that area children have access to any services that they might need to grow up in a healthy, nurturing environment. Three of those organizations, Chautauqua Connections Inc., Chautauqua County Early Intervention and Chautauqua Tapestry, recently teamed up to hold a forum at the Carnahan Training Center at JCC. 18 Groups / Agencies and Parents Represented (30 People) Patrick Smeraldo Presented a Short Report of the July 2013 Forum A group discussion was held on the following topics: Electronic Sharing Tool – Patrick Smeraldo will develop a tool that will allow all coalition members the ability to share information with each other. State Conference Calls – Jackie Jones from the Children’s Infancy Leadership Cirlce reported on State conference calls that will occur after January 1, 2014.
